St Wilfrid’s music encompasses contemporary praise and worship as well as traditional music, catering for all tastes. There is a worship team at all service while the traditional Sunday service at 7.30am is accompanied by an organist.
We welcome all levels of musical skill but we do expect that all members have a heart for God and a commitment to worship. Involvement requires a love for music. Training can be given provided the person is willing to learn.
Music practices are on Thursdays at 6pm in the church. Your musical talent is a gift from God to you. What you do with it is your gift to God.
Our Children's Ministry takes place every Sunday morning during the 09:30 service. As one of the groups closest to God's heart, our Children's ministry is as active as ever.
We cater for children from toddlers to grade 6. We aim to provide a safe place where children can be part of, with creative teachings, worship, exciting activities, outreach and mission, and of course have fun.
Children are a vital part of our church and we want to create a place where they feel welcomed, cared for and their spiritual needs meet.
This ministry meets once a month on a Saturday morning at 7.30am for a delicious cooked breakfast and fellowship and the occasional outing e.g. fishing. They also engage in maintenance tasks from time to time around the church as required e.g. the painting of the hall.
This ministry offers:
a) Prayer for healing, giving thanks or any other need during services
b) It aims to deepen the parish's understanding of our Benedictine way of life and spirituality, generally by organising quiet days for the parish and occasional quiet days for the prayer ministers themselves.
This ministry encompass much, from feeding schemes to literacy programs (computer or other), planting vegetable gardens, painting schools or old age homes, visiting the lonely or playing Christmas Carols in public places. Please consider joining this ministry so that together we can make a real difference in the world.
CARE & SERVICE: This ministry covers hospital and home visiting mainly for the sick and elderly people of the parish but all visiting is covered. A requirement for this ministry is having a caring disposition and one’s own transport. It also provides tea and refreshments after the 9.30am service and tea and toast between the 7.30am and 9.30am services on Sundays.
WELCOMING: St Wilfrid’s requires people to identify and welcome new-comers at the Sunday services to invite them to tea after the service and follow up with a phone call during the week. This ministry needs to be further developed.
FELLOWSHIP GROUP: This ministry group meets on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 9.30am providing warm and friendly fellowship and the occasional guest speaker or outing.
PRAYER GROUP: This ministry group currently consists of a group of people providing prayer for long term needs and meets on the first Wednesday of every month to update the ongoing prayer list. Each person is required to pray daily for 3 or 4 people.
PRAYER CHAIN: There are currently two linked prayer chains in operation. Prayer is provided for short term, emergency situations and if the need becomes chronic it is added to the daily prayer list.
As Christians, we need to continuously renew our minds. St Wilfrid’s has over the years built up a varied and interesting library containing books on topics ranging from discipleship to healing and a range of topics. These books give us the opportunity to learn more about our faith, be inspired by the testimony of others and stretch our minds, as well as reading some beautiful writing.
The library ministry looks after the books, cataloguing and preparing summaries from time to time. It also sources new books and endevours to encourage people to make regular use of this valuable resource. Everyone is encouraged to use the library and to borrow books. Please enjoy this resource and the renewal of your mind.
If you have a passion for books and reading, please consider leading this ministry.
